This episode also marks the return of Kristen Bell to the show. If you’ve been following this blog you’ll remember that we had to wait for several months for her to become free. This meant that we couldn’t complete filming of episode 2 for quite awhile. We knew that she’d become available to us for a nice run of episodes beginning with episode seven, and Jesse and the other writers developed her re-introduction of her character with this knowledge.

You've got a great eye and a great talent for capturing moments like these. Hope you keep up with the blog!! I'll look forward to it.
Now that you've killed off two characters people liked (Adam and Maury), you owe it to us to kill Maya, on screen. She's the worst character on the show, and sending her off with a bus ticket after she's murdered and slept her way around is patently unfair. We deserve some payoff for suffering through her scenes for two seasons.
That being said, if that's all the Mohinder/Sylar interaction we get this season, I am going to cry. D: Don't let me down!
Why couldn't Maury have done the same? Matt actually implies this is what happened when he says his father could pull off this trick...right after he does it. Of course, Mr Petrelli had the same power, but no way was he as skilled with it as Maury.
the real mystery is why Maury was so afraid of Mr. Pettrelli before he stole Adam's power...did not seem like much of a threat at that point. Maybe that will be revealed in the future.
Anyway, awesome blog man, been following you since your Smallville days. Nice to see a man who loves his work! And since I took a job teaching at an LA public school I might get a chance this summer to check out some of the great places y'all shoot at.
But I do hope she comes back and gets her revenge against Gabriel, she deserves that at least. (refresher: fell deeply in love him, got betrayed, her twin murdered. Just in case it’s slipped the mind :P)
If she does come back please don't kill her to appease the viewers who have no sense of empathy. She's been treated so badly, give her a break. (people that like her are out there, please don't think we're not.)

Peter's anger at his father is amazingly intense. I hope we get more backstory there (well, I'm always up for some Petrelli backstory), since it's fascinating to wonder what could make the same character who comes back and risks his life for a known serial killer so homicidally angry at his own father.
Clearly, Arthur is a deeply evil man, but for some reason, Nathan loves him and is devoted to him, so there must be something more there...
I also hope we get to see Arthur and Angela together. I've always suspected the relationship between the Petrelli parents had to be complicated and maybe a little twisted, so I'm looking forward to seeing more of that, and to seeing Cristine Rose get to go back to doing something besides lying around in a coma!
Peter was great this episode. It's like he's finally back to his much-missed season one self. When I realized he was going back to save Sylar, even though he didn't have his powers, I cheered. That's my boy: a little crazy, a little dumb, but his heart is always in exactly the right place.
Nathan, though... is not himself. Which I think is intentional? But it still bugs me, because I adore him, and I worry. For such a physical guy from such a physical family, he didn't touch his hurt and upset brother once in that final scene, which I find very odd/interesting. Can't wait to see how he interacts with Pop. Damn election, making us wait an extra week!
Btw I really like Jessalyn Gilsig. Meredith is a cool character, but there's just too many blondes now! Bring Monica back and let her be all kick ass and out for revenge!
I didn't really appreciate blondes in the series but i recognize the team Claire/Elle is by far more interesting than any of them by themselves.I really enjoyed the scenes in the plane.
We saw a lil bit more of Lyle...Not that he's interesting ATM but I have the feeling it can happen one day.
I thought Maya would die, and that's not bad if, once in a while, a Hero goes away without beeing violently killed after all.

I must be stupid (or not good enough at english?) but I still don't get Papa Petrelli's agenda?
Is he only a maniacal 'I want to rule the world' freak?
Or just a 'I want a revenge on my Ex Wife' type?

Loved the scenes Elle and Claire had together, and that scene with Nathan/Meredith/Tracy was so awkward, i loved it!
I also loved the Peter and Claire scenes, i really missed seeing them together. Glad they're getting more scenes together this season :)
You do a GREAT job with this show, all the twists and the action keep me on the edge of my seat every week, it's definately my favourite show!

Let's start with Claire. She was great during season 1. During season 2 she was apparebtly lobotomised. She forgot that her father took a bullet to protect her. She deliberately endangered her entire family because she was a selfish brat, and she watched her father die because of her. In season 3 she's no better. 'Evil' Claire comes across as a laughable, petulant, self-absorbed brat who is stuck in her emo adolescent phase. In episode 5 we finally saw a glimpse of the old Claire - caring, wanting to help, but in episode 7 she was back to being an annoying brat.
Peter has become such an idiot that it's a wonder if he can walk and chew gum at the same time. Ditto for Hiro, who is also an arrested adolescent. You've taken away any reason to care about these characters. While I love them, both Sylar and Nathan are simply a mess. We have no clue what their motivations are or why they're doing anything. Ditto for Mohinder - he went from being a nice guy to a rapist and kidnapper, now he's gleefully experimenting on people and professing his love for Maya? Speaking of which, thank you for giving us several episodes in a row without inflicting her cleavage on us or forcing us to endure more sex scenes between these two. There is no chemistry, and their 'relationship' makes no sense. Last season Maya was in a convent. This season she dresses like a skanky ho and has sex with someone she just met. Just please, for the love of all that is holy, don't bring her back for a pregnancy storyline. We don't care if she's having Mohinder's baby versus Sylar's baby. We just want her gone, forever.
People watch this show because they love the characters. This season has completely destroyed those characters and broken faith with the viewers. You need an infusion of new blood, of people who love the show and understand character-driven writing. I don't know if the show and characters can be salvaged at this point. Which is sad. I loved the show during season 1. I gave copies of S1 to friends and family for Christmas last year - I spent over $200 buying multiple copies. Now, I just feel used and betrayed. I'm still watching, although I don't look forward to the show like I used to. I've given up hope, at least for Villains. I keep hoping new writers will be brought in for the next volume and will be able to revive the show. Still, it's impossible to defend it anymore. It seems that the writers and creators don't care about the characters, so why should we?

i love mark, but as long as kring remains show runner, i dont see him making much of an impact, unless he has been given carte blanche and told to make the next arc much like his series, the american...which was praised by none other than alan moore...high praise indeed for a first time writer of comics.
I loved this show in season 1, and was saddened to see it fall into the current surgical bypass problem it seems to have made for itself.
I'll once again praise the Execs for actually doing something decisive about changing up the writing in the show, as from the scripts and execution, they weren't cutting it.
I'll once again reiterate my hope that this show returns to coherent plotting, natural character development, and execution that does not make me think, "That was the worst episode of anything I have ever seen" like that of episode 5.
Furthermore, I would like to bring up my opinion that Bryan Fuller seems to have brought all of the thought and eloquence that we all loved in Season 1, which was abundantly clear from his episode "Company Man" that he wrote. Episodes like that were sorely missing in season 2 and 3.
I hope that this show doesn't get cancelled, and that I'll still have something to look forward to every monday.
Even Masi Oka in an interview said that he didn’t agree with the way the show was taking his character, making him act the way he was acting towards Ando and opening the safe, but he agreed that it had to be done, “for plot purposes.” The show has the cart before the horse, and in doing so, has taken away all believability, such as it can be for a show about people with powers.
Greg, please make the characters people we can actually care about again.
When if ever has a company meddling in writing produced a better show? When has a network ever cared about quality over ratings? NBC wants bigger numbers, not a better show. Dumbing down Heroes will result in a bigger viewing demographic, which will result in better ratings.
People who think that canning the two people who, after Tim Kring, have been the heart and soul of Heroes will result in a better series are deluding themselves.
Where else do you find message board posters saying, "I only watch this show now to see how bad it can get." Or, "I've given up on this show."
There's a clue, and it is this. Its the worst written show on television this year, and thats very sad when you consider how good season 1 was.
Just because they're suits at NBC doesn't mean they're missing a brain. Look at the other shows on NBC right now. Chuck, Life, Law and Order, 30 Rock. All intelligent and witty. They didn't need shake-ups in writers. Wanna know why?
They don't insult the viewers' intelligence.
On the other hand, this show now is completely screwed.

Any high quality show with a massive fanbase will eventually grow an extremely vocal nay-sayer crows, especially if its target demographic is of the nerd.
The boards I frequent by no means are in the majority negative about the present season, and the people that are negative hate different parts. Some don't like Mohinder's storyline. Some don't like Sylar's. Some don't like Hiro's. There is no consensus.
Also, I wouldn't mind reading some of those message boards if you wouldn't mind sharing.
